Law Firm Company Profile Sample

Most people who instruct a law firm have never done it before and are not sure what to ask. A company profile answers the questions they hold back: what the firm does, who will look after the matter, how it keeps people informed and how its fees are explained. It is read by individuals comparing firms, by estate agents, accountants and banks that recommend one, and by small businesses looking for a firm to keep on call. The same words then serve the website, the client care letters and introductions. Law is a regulated trade, so a good profile describes what the firm does and how, and leaves out promises about outcomes.

Hartwell Legal is a made-up firm whose profile answers a nervous client's questions in the order they would ask them. A tagline and overview say who the firm is, and the services cover contracts, property, employment and family matters. The values and reasons to choose the firm deal with privacy, jargon and cost, and the closing section shows how a matter runs from conversation to completion. In about 30 seconds the AI Company Profile Generator makes a profile for your own firm from your areas of work and your facts.

What a company profile for a law firm should show

  1. Show your regulator and how clients can check you

Clients and referrers want to confirm that a firm is properly regulated. Say which regulator or professional body you answer to and give your registration details exactly as issued, in the footer and on the team page. Never imply an authorisation you do not hold.

  2. Say which side you act for

Many matters have two sides, such as landlord and tenant or employer and employee. Say which side your firm usually acts for, and when it would decline to act, for example because it already acts for the other side. A visitor then knows at once whether you can help them.

  3. Say what you do not do

List the areas outside your practice and say when you would refer a client to another firm. It saves wasted calls and shows that you know the limits of your work. Clients trust a firm that is candid about what it cannot help with.

  4. Use plain words for legal terms

Replace Latin and jargon with everyday words, and explain any term you must use, such as conveyancing or notice period. Short sentences read best for someone who is anxious. A profile that is easy to understand is evidence that the advice will be too.

Questions

Law Firm Company Profile: questions and answers

What should a law firm company profile contain?

Begin with a short overview and your areas of work, then the clients you act for and how a matter runs from first conversation to completion. Include your values, the reasons clients choose you and your regulatory details. Close with how to reach the firm and when the phone is answered.

Should a law firm profile mention case results?

It is better not to, because results depend on the facts of each matter and regulators restrict claims about outcomes. Describe the services and the process instead. If you share a client story, keep it anonymous and general, and only with consent.

Should a law firm profile list the individual lawyers?

Yes, a short entry for each person with their role, their qualifications and their areas of work lets clients see who will act for them. Give only the qualifications each person holds, and ask each person to approve their entry. Update it when the team changes.

Should a law firm profile be different for individuals and for businesses?

One profile can serve both if it has two short sections: one for people dealing with a home, work or family matter and one for owners dealing with contracts and staff. Use different examples for each, in the same plain tone. Keep the rest of the profile shared.
