Will ChatGPT and Google AI quote your website?
See every page the way AI engines read it
The AI Search Visibility Checker reads your website the way ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google's AI and Copilot do, and gives each page an AI Citation Score from 0 to 100: how likely an AI engine is to quote it. It shows the passage each page would be quoted for, and what to fix first.
5 pages read with no account · up to 50 with one · nothing on your site is changed
A score predicts how likely a page is to be quoted; it does not measure whether AI engines quote it today. How the score works
- 5 AI engines checked: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI and Copilot, each by the bot it really sends.
- 5 areas in every page's score: reach 25, answer 30, evidence 20, entity and trust 15, specific 10.
- 5 pages read with no account, and up to 50 with one for 1 credit.
- 0 changes to your website: the checker only reads public pages.
How is the AI Citation Score worked out?
Each page is scored out of 100 in five areas, weighted by how much each one decides whether an AI engine quotes it. A page the engines cannot reach scores no more than 10, however good its words.
| Area | Points | What is checked |
|---|---|---|
| Can AI reach it? | 25 | robots.txt for each AI search bot, a request made as each bot to catch firewalls that turn them away, no noindex or nosnippet, words present without JavaScript, the page in the sitemap |
| Is there an answer to lift? | 30 | the question the page can win, an opening paragraph of 40 to 60 words that answers it, section headings phrased as questions, sections that open with a short answer, an FAQ, lists and tables |
| Evidence | 20 | facts with numbers, links to primary sources, a visible updated date, a named author or business, things the business found or measured itself |
| Entity and trust | 15 | Organization or LocalBusiness data with sameAs links, About and Contact pages, address and phone in a form machines read, data describing the page, https |
| Says something specific | 10 | details only this business could give (places, prices, figures, named examples) rather than wording found on any site, and pages that do not repeat each other |
The website's AI Visibility Score combines its pages (55%, the homepage counted twice), how many AI search bots it lets in (20%), and how often other websites name it (25%), found with one web search. The full list of checks is on the method page.
Which AI bots does the checker test?
It tests the search bot each engine uses to find pages for its answers, because that is the one that decides whether you can be quoted. Training bots are listed apart: blocking them keeps your words out of future models, not out of answers.
| Engine | Search bot | Fetches for a user | Training bot |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | OAI-SearchBot | ChatGPT-User | GPTBot |
| Perplexity | PerplexityBot | Perplexity-User | None listed |
| Claude | Claude-SearchBot | Claude-User | ClaudeBot |
| Google AI Overviews and AI Mode | Googlebot | Googlebot | Google-Extended |
| Copilot | Bingbot | Bingbot | None listed |
The checker reads robots.txt the way these bots do: the rules written for the bot by name, otherwise the rules for every bot, with the longest matching rule winning. It then asks for your homepage as each bot. When a browser gets the page and the bot gets a refusal or a challenge, a firewall is turning AI engines away even though robots.txt lets them in.
Why do AI engines quote some pages and not others?
An AI engine quotes the page that holds the clearest passage answering the question it searched, on a site it can read and trusts.
When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI a question, the engine runs one or more searches, opens a handful of the pages it finds and lifts the passages that answer best. A passage that names its subject, answers in its first sentence and carries a figure can be quoted on its own. A page that opens with a story, hides the answer half way down or says what every competitor says gives the engine nothing to lift. That is why the checker reads every page for the question it can win and the exact passage an AI would quote, and marks the pages where no passage answers at all.
What does the score not tell you?
The score predicts how quotable a page is; it does not measure whether AI engines quote it today.
Engines also weigh things no single website can show, such as how often other sites, reviews and forums mention the business, and they change how they choose sources. A request made as Googlebot or Bingbot from our servers may be refused by a firewall that still lets the real crawlers in, so for those two engines such a refusal is marked "could not confirm" rather than counted against you. The off site part comes from one web search, so it shows the strongest mentions rather than every one.
How do I raise a page's AI Citation Score?
Fix what keeps engines out first, then give every page an answer they can lift.
- Let the AI search bots in: OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot, Googlebot and Bingbot, in robots.txt and in your firewall.
- Open each page with a 40 to 60 word paragraph that answers its main question and names the subject.
- Phrase section headings as the questions customers ask, and start each section with a one or two sentence answer.
- Add facts with numbers, a visible updated date, who stands behind the page, and links to primary sources on articles.
- Describe the business in Organization or LocalBusiness data with sameAs links to its other profiles.
- Say what only you can say: your prices, places, figures and real examples.

Questions business owners ask
Do I need an account to scan my website?
No. Anyone can scan 5 pages of a website and see every score, the passage each page would be quoted for and the problems that keep a site out of AI answers. An account starts with 1 credit, shows how to fix every point, and can scan up to 50 pages of a site for 1 credit.
Does blocking GPTBot keep my website out of ChatGPT answers?
No. GPTBot collects data for training OpenAI's models. ChatGPT search finds pages with OAI-SearchBot, so that is the bot to let in if you want to appear in its answers. The checker reads your robots.txt for each search bot separately and lists the training bots apart.
Does an llms.txt file help AI engines quote me?
Not as far as anyone can show. No AI search engine has said it reads llms.txt when it chooses what to quote, so the checker reports whether you have one but leaves it out of the score.
Does structured data (schema) make AI engines quote my pages?
It helps engines identify your business and what a page is, so it counts for a small part of the score. On its own it has not been shown to raise how often a page is quoted; the words on the page matter far more.
Will the checker change anything on my website?
No. It only reads the public pages anyone can see, the way an AI search bot does. Nothing on your website is changed.
How is this different from the AI Website SEO Checker?
The AI Website SEO Checker measures how well a site can rank in Google's list of results. The AI Search Visibility Checker measures how likely AI engines are to read, trust and quote its pages in their answers. A site needs both.
