Herringbone, diagonal and mosaic layouts take longer to set out and cut, so they are priced on the measuring visit.
The tile you love in the showroom is not always the one for a wet floor or a busy hallway. This is how we talk it through with clients.
| Tile | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Glazed ceramic | Walls, splashbacks, bedrooms | Easy to cut and clean; the softer body can chip if something heavy drops |
| Porcelain | Floors, showers, terraces | Dense and hard wearing; needs a flexible adhesive and a wet saw |
| Natural stone | Floors, vanity walls, fireplaces | Sealed before and after grouting; acidic cleaners will etch it |
| Mosaic on mesh | Shower floors, niches, curves | Lots of joints, so an epoxy grout keeps them easy to clean |
| Large format | Open floors and feature walls | Needs a very flat base; small dips show as lips between tiles |
| Handmade and zellige | Splashbacks and feature walls | Every tile differs; uneven faces and wider joints are part of the look |

Most tiling failures start below the surface: a floor that flexes, a wall that was never flat, or a shower that was grouted but never waterproofed. Before a tile goes down we take the surface back to something sound, check it with a straightedge and fill the dips.
In showers and wet rooms the membrane goes on in two coats, with tape lapped into every corner and round the drain and the valve. The floor is flood tested before tiling, because grout on its own does not keep water out. Some countries require wet area waterproofing to be certified by a licensed installer, and we follow the rule where you live.
Small jobs are welcome. Most repairs take a morning, and we bring a fan of grout colours to match what you already have.
One tile cut out without harming its neighbours, then replaced from your spares or the closest match we can source.
Old grout raked out, the joints cleaned and regrouted, and the silicone renewed where the walls meet the tray.
Mouldy or split silicone cut away round baths, basins and worktops, the joint cleaned, and a mould resistant bead run in.
Tiles that ring hollow when tapped are lifted, cleaned back and relaid on a full bed of adhesive.
Marble, travertine and slate deep cleaned and sealed, so spills bead up on the surface instead of soaking in.
We find where water is getting past the tiles and tell you honestly whether a regrout will do or the waterproofing needs redoing.
If we go on to carry out the repair the leak check found, the $90 comes off that bill.
Rooms tiled this year, from a single splashback to a whole ground floor.

A bathroom takes four to six working days, and much of that time is spent waiting for things to cure.
We measure, check what lies under the old finish and talk through tiles and layout. A written price follows inside two working days.
Old tiles come off, surfaces are made flat and sound, and wet areas are waterproofed and left to cure before the flood test.
A laser sets the first row, cuts are planned so no wall ends on a sliver, and the tiles are set and left overnight.
Grout and silicone go in, stone is sealed, and you get the curing times in writing before the first shower.
The bathroom wall was a full centimetre out of plumb. They built it out flat before tiling, and the grout lines now run dead straight from the bath to the ceiling.
Three cracked floor tiles in the kitchen were replaced from spares the last owner had left in the garage. Nobody can tell the new ones from the rest.
Handmade green tiles behind the range, each one slightly different. They laid the whole lot out on the floor first so the shades mixed evenly, and it looks as if it has always been there.
Sometimes. If the old tiles are flat, firmly bonded and the extra height will not catch a door, tiling over can work on walls and floors. We never tile over in a shower, because the waterproofing underneath cannot be checked.
About 10 percent more than the area for a straight layout, and 15 percent for diagonal or herringbone. Keep one unopened box afterwards, because batches vary in shade and that box is your future repair.
Most grouts and silicones need 24 to 48 hours before they get wet. The exact times for the products we used are written on the handover sheet.
You can buy the tiles yourself or order them through us at our trade price. Either way, we check the quantity and the batch numbers before the first box is opened.
It depends on where you live. Some countries require wet area waterproofing to be done or certified by a licensed installer, and moving drains or wiring often needs a licensed plumber or electrician. Because the rules differ between countries, we explain the ones that apply to your home and bring in licensed trades for their part.
A 25 percent deposit fixes the start date on jobs over $1,000. The balance falls due once the grout is in and the room is handed back, paid to us directly.
Tell us the room, its rough size and whether the tiles are chosen yet. A reply comes within one working day with a time for a measuring visit.
Calls are easiest early or late in the day, when nobody is kneeling in fresh adhesive. Messages left during the day are returned the same evening.

About this sample page
True Line Tiling is an invented tiler, and its single page shows how a tiling business might present bathrooms, splashbacks, floors and repairs on AI Web Maker. Three tiles drop into a row on a laser line at the top, a quick signal that straight lines are the point. Typical jobs with starting prices come next, then a tile guide that helps clients pick the right tile for each room. A preparation section explains flatness and waterproofing, the work clients never see. Each part is there to earn trust before the measuring visit.
On AI Web Maker, a tiler writes a few lines about the work and the area, and a draft site appears with job cards and a request form. Clients reach the tiler through that form or by phone, and the two of them settle price and payment between themselves. A live tiling site is hosted for $119 yearly or $19 monthly, and the domain is a cost of its own. This sample page gives the reason behind every section of True Line. Swapping in real photos and prices is enough to make the structure work for a tiler in business.
