A workroom, not a counter

Every garment is altered behind the shop by the tailors who pin it on you. Nothing is sent away, so a question about a hem or a lining can be answered the same afternoon.

We tell you what an alteration can and cannot achieve before we cut. A jacket that is two sizes too large in the shoulders is rarely worth altering, and we will say so.

  • Pinned and checked on you, not on a hanger
  • Matching thread and original buttons kept
  • Repairs for zips, linings, tears and moth holes
  • Express hems in 24 hours for an extra $10

How a made to measure suit is made

About six weeks from the first conversation to collection, with two fittings on the way.

  1. Consultation

Forty five minutes to choose the cloth, the style and the details, with the price agreed at the end.

  2. Measurements

Twenty two measurements and notes on posture, so the pattern suits the way you stand.

  3. First fitting

After about three weeks you try a basted jacket, and we adjust the balance and the length.

  4. Final fitting

The finished suit is fitted once more, pressed and ready to collect about six weeks after the start.

Made to measure prices

Prices include the cloth from our workroom range, two fittings and pressing. Cloth brought in by the client is welcome and lowers the price.

From our clients (example reviews)

Three pairs of trousers were hemmed during a jacket fitting. Both fit perfectly, and the price was exactly what the list said.
Kwame O.Alterations
My wedding suit was made here. The first fitting found a shoulder that sits lower than the other, and the final suit felt like it had always been mine.
Rafael M.Three piece suit
They said honestly that my coat was not worth taking in, then altered the one that was. That honesty is why our whole family comes back.

Questions about fittings and alterations

Is an appointment needed for an alteration?

Drop offs are welcome during opening hours, though a booked slot means a tailor is ready to pin the garment on you straight away. Fittings for made to measure always need an appointment.

What should come to a trouser or dress fitting?

Bring the shoes you will wear with the garment, and anything worn underneath that changes the line, such as a waistcoat or a belt.

Can you copy the style of a suit a client already owns?

Yes. Bring the suit and we take its style as the starting point, then improve the fit where it falls short.

How are alterations and suits paid for?

Alterations are paid on collection. Made to measure orders take a deposit of half the price at the consultation, with the balance at the final fitting. Payment is made directly in the workroom.

Can you alter garments bought online?

Most of them. If the cloth or the seam allowance makes an alteration unwise, we explain why before you pay anything.

Do you repair linings and moth holes?

Linings can be replaced in most jackets and coats. Small moth holes can be invisibly mended, and we show you a sample of the result first.

About this sample page

What this sample tailor website gets right

This page is a sample tailor website for Fine Stitch Tailoring, a fictional workroom, made to show what a tailoring site built with AI Web Maker can include. The alteration price list comes first because most visitors arrive with a garment and a question about cost and timing. Made to measure work follows as a four step process with starting prices, so suit clients see the whole journey before they book. Cloth swatches show the choice without needing a photo shoot, and the questions section deals with appointments, payment and repairs. The booking form separates drop offs, fittings and consultations so each request arrives ready to plan.

An owner who builds a tailor website with AI Web Maker describes the workroom, and the builder drafts the pages, prices and booking form in minutes. Requests arrive for the owner to accept, move or decline, and payment stays between the tailor and the client. Building and previewing cost nothing, and going live is 9 a year of hosting with the domain paid separately. The full walkthrough of this sample is on its sample page, with what each part is for. Every section here can be reworded or reordered to suit a different workroom.
