Stronger every block, coached every rep

Coached group classes, barbell training and personal programmes for people who have never touched a barbell and people chasing a new total. Book an intro session and a coach checks how you squat, hinge and press before any weight goes on the bar.

What happens on the floor

Every class is coached from the warm up to the last set, and the weights for each lifter are written on the board before the first rep. Drop in prices are shown here; members train in any class their plan covers.

Strength

Squat, bench press, deadlift and overhead press in a six week block, with the weight rising each week while your technique holds.

Drop in$22

Conditioning

Sled pushes, rowers, bikes and kettlebells in timed rounds that build fitness without leaving your legs too tired for lifting day.

Drop in$18

Weightlifting

The snatch and the clean and jerk broken into drills, taught on wooden platforms with bumper plates and one coach for every six lifters.

Drop in$25

Foundations course

Four Saturday sessions for complete beginners covering the main lifts, bracing, warm ups and how to read a written programme.

Four sessions$120

Open gym

Train your own programme on the racks and platforms on weekdays between 10:00 and 16:00, with a coach on the floor for questions.

Visit$15

Masters strength

A steadier class for lifters over fifty, with longer warm ups, more mobility work and plenty of rest between the heavy sets.

Drop in$18

Drop ins are welcome once you have done an intro session, or once a coach has seen you lift and agrees you can train safely on your own.

Class times through the week

The timetable runs year round apart from public holidays. Get there ten minutes early to warm up, because the floor closes to new arrivals five minutes after the start.

A coach going through a written training plan with a lifter beside a platform

A programme written for one lifter

Personal programmes start with a 60 minute assessment covering your training history, the lifts you can do today, how you move and what you want from the next six months. The coach then writes every session, sets the weights and adjusts them each week from your training log.

The programme can be trained in open gym, alongside classes, or in one to one sessions. Many lifters book a coached session every fortnight to check technique and train the rest on their own.

  • Assessment and a written six week block from $160
  • One to one sessions from $70
  • A weekly look at your training log
  • A retest at the end of every block

Your first six weeks

New members follow the same path, and nobody joins a class before a coach has watched them lift.

  1. Intro session

Thirty minutes one to one: a talk about goals and old injuries, then squats, hinges and presses with an empty bar.

  2. Foundations or a first class

Beginners take the four week Foundations course, while people who already lift go straight into classes at weights the coach sets.

  3. Your first block

Six weeks on the same main lifts, with the load going up a little each week and every set written in your log.

  4. Retest week

Lighter sessions and then a test of each lift, so you can see the numbers move and the coach can plan the next block.

Racks, platforms and the turf lane

Eight racks, four lifting platforms, a 20 metre turf lane for sleds and a conditioning corner with rowers and bikes.

Two years of guessing at a big chain gym, then six weeks here and the deadlift finally looked right. The coach spotted a rounded back within ten minutes of the intro.

Joined the masters class at 61 with a stiff shoulder and a go ahead from the doctor. Pressing a bar overhead again was not on anyone's list, least of all mine.

The written programme fits around night shifts, and the weekly log check keeps the numbers honest. Squat up 30 kg over two blocks.

Asked at the chalk bowl

Is the gym suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. Around half our members had never held a barbell before their intro session. The Foundations course teaches the main lifts with light weights, and nobody joins a class until a coach has watched them move.

Should anyone see a doctor before starting?

If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, a recent injury or operation, or you are pregnant, check with your doctor before you start lifting and tell the coach what they advise. Our coaches adapt exercises, but they do not diagnose or treat injuries. If anyone is hurt or unwell on the floor, a coach gives first aid and calls your local emergency number.

What should come to the first session?

Comfortable clothes, flat soled shoes, a water bottle and a towel. Chalk, belts and wrist wraps are lent while you find out whether you want your own.

Does strength training make people bulky?

Muscle grows slowly, and mostly after years of training and eating for it. Most members notice they are stronger and carry heavy shopping with ease long before their clothes fit any differently.

Is there an age limit?

Classes are for adults aged 18 and over. Teenagers aged 16 and 17 can join with written consent from a parent or guardian after an intro session with the head coach.

Can a membership be paused?

Yes, for up to two months a year for travel or injury, with a week's notice by email. Paused months are not charged, and your programme picks up where it stopped.

Tell us what you would like to start with and when you can come in. A coach answers by the next working day with a confirmed time, or the closest slot that is still open.

  • Intro sessions cost $25 and last 30 minutes
  • Nothing is booked until a coach confirms it
  • Payment is arranged directly with the gym

About this sample page

From an empty bar to a booked intro

Ironclad Strength and Conditioning is an invented gym whose single page was built to show what a coached barbell gym can look like on AI Web Maker. Its opening view puts a $25 intro session first, because that first meeting with a coach is where most new members are won. Class cards with drop in prices, a weekly timetable and three membership options follow in the order a newcomer tends to ask about them. A dark section on personal programmes speaks to experienced lifters, while four steps set out the first six weeks. The request form at the end asks about experience and injuries, so every intro starts with the coach already informed.

Starting a gym site of your own means writing a few lines about your floor, your classes and your first visit, which the builder turns into a draft. When a lifter requests an intro, you confirm it, suggest a new slot or say no, and any fee changes hands between you and that lifter. The bill begins at $119 a year for hosting once the site is live, with the domain name priced on its own. Every section of this example is unpacked on its sample page. Treat the order shown here as one sensible plan rather than the only one.
