How to join

  1. Book a taster

Pick a section and a session. For juniors, a parent or carer books and stays for the first one.

  2. Try two sessions

Train with the group twice, meet the coach and see whether it suits.

  3. Send an enquiry

Tell us who is joining and which section. The membership secretary replies with the forms.

  4. Register and play

Return the forms, pay the season fee to the club, and the coach adds you to the squad.

Juniors in safe hands

Every coach and volunteer who works with juniors completes the background checks required for that role where the club plays, along with the club's own safeguarding training. Requirements differ between countries and between sports, and our welfare officer keeps the club in line with the governing bodies we play under.

An adult trained in first aid is at every session, and coaches carry each junior's emergency contact details. In a serious emergency the coach calls the local emergency number first, then the parent or carer.

  • A named welfare officer parents can contact in confidence
  • At least two adults at every junior session
  • Parents of under eights stay on site during training
  • Written codes of conduct for players, parents and coaches

From members and parents (example reviews)

Our son was nervous at his first taster, and the coach paired him with a buddy straight away. Two seasons on, he helps set out the cones for the little ones.

Questions about the club

What should we bring to a taster?

Comfortable sports clothes, trainers or boots for grass, a water bottle and a warm layer. Footballers need shin pads, and the club can lend a pair for the first sessions.

Does a child need to be good at sport already?

No. Junior groups are coached for enjoyment and skills first, and every member trains each week whether or not they are picked for match day.

Who coaches the sessions?

Volunteers who hold coaching qualifications from the governing body of their sport, plus safeguarding and first aid training. Qualification names and requirements vary by country and by sport.

What happens if someone is injured?

A first aid trained adult deals with minor knocks at the session and tells the parent or carer at pick up. For anything serious, the coach calls the local emergency number and then the family.

How are fees paid?

After your membership enquiry, the membership secretary sends the forms and an invoice. Fees go directly to the club in one sum or three instalments.

Can adults join without playing in a league?

Yes. Plenty of adult members train for fitness and friendship alone. League places go to anyone who wants one, and nobody has to play competitive matches.

Book a taster or ask about joining

Choose a taster session or a membership enquiry, and tell us who it is for. A volunteer from the right section replies within two working days with the session details or the forms to join.

  • Two taster sessions before anyone commits
  • Parents or carers stay for a junior's first session
  • Season fees paid directly to the club

A club volunteer replies within two working days.

About this sample page

Why this sports club sample is easy to join from

Northfield Sports Club is a fictional community club, and its sample website shows how a club can make joining feel simple. Three sections and their age ranges come first, followed by a timetable that names every group, evening and venue. Taster sessions are offered before any fee, and season prices for juniors, adults and families sit side by side. Junior welfare gets its own section, covering background checks, first aid and a welfare officer for parents to contact. All of it leads to a single form for booking a taster or asking about membership, the step a club most wants visitors to take.

Volunteer committees can put together a comparable site on AI Web Maker, starting from a description of their sections, training times and fees. The builder drafts the pages and the form, and the club adjusts them in preview until they read correctly. Taster requests arrive for the club to accept, move or decline, and fees are paid straight to the club. Once published, hosting costs 9 yearly or monthly with the domain on top, and building or previewing is never charged. The sample page that goes with this example explains why each section is there and how to adapt it.
