A carpenter marking a joint on an oak board in a small joinery workshop

Made in the workshop, fitted in a day or two

Each piece is cut, jointed and painted in our workshop, where the tools and the light suit fine work. Your home only sees the fitting, which keeps dust and disruption to a minimum.

Older houses rarely have a straight wall or a level floor, so every cabinet is scribed to the shape of the room. The finished piece looks as if it grew there, with no gaps hidden under filler.

  • Joints glued and screwed, never just stapled
  • Soft close hinges and drawer runners
  • Paint sprayed in the workshop for a smooth finish
  • Dust sheets down and the room vacuumed each day

Woods and finishes

Samples of each come to the measuring visit. Solid wood costs more than painted board, and we explain where each one earns its place.

How a commission comes together

Most fitted pieces take two to six weeks from the first visit to the final fitting.

  1. Measure and talk

The carpenter visits, measures the space and talks through what needs storing and how it should look.

  2. Drawing and price

Within a week a drawing arrives with sizes, materials and finish, along with a fixed price.

  3. Made in the workshop

The piece is built and finished in the workshop while your room carries on as normal.

  4. Fitted and adjusted

Most pieces go in over one to three days, and every door and drawer is adjusted before we leave.

Solid wood, veneer or painted board?

The right material depends on where the piece goes and how it will be finished.

MaterialWhere it shinesWorth knowing
Solid hardwoodStairs, doors, worktops and open shelvesMoves a little with the seasons, so the joints allow for it
Solid softwoodPainted doors, skirting and rustic shelvingSofter, so it dents more easily than hardwood
Wood veneered boardLarge panels and wardrobe doors in a wood finishStable and flat, with real wood on the face
Painted boardFitted wardrobes and cupboards in any colourSmooth, stable and the most affordable choice
Birch plywoodModern shelving and desks with visible edgesVery strong, with its layers left on show

From our clients (example reviews)

Our alcoves are different widths and the walls lean, yet the cupboards sit tight to every edge. Visitors assume they came with the house.

The old staircase creaked on every step. With new treads and a solid oak handrail it is quiet now, and it looks wonderful.

A wall of wardrobes was drawn, priced and fitted in four weeks, and the bedroom was left cleaner than before the work began.

Questions about fitted carpentry

What does a fitted wardrobe cost?

A two door painted wardrobe in an alcove starts at about $1,800 fitted. Wider units, solid wood doors and internal drawers add to that, and the quote after the visit is fixed.

Do you fit kitchens?

Not complete kitchens. We do make dressers, larders and open shelving for kitchens, and we fit solid wood worktops.

Can you work with uneven walls and floors?

That is most of the job. Every piece is scribed to the room, so it meets the wall and floor closely even when neither is straight.

Does a new staircase need approval?

Replacing treads or a handrail usually does not. A new staircase, or one that changes layout, often has to meet building rules, which vary by country and area, so we check what applies before we quote.

How long are you working in the house?

Most fitted pieces take one to three days to install, because the making happens in the workshop. Staircases take longer, and we agree the dates in advance.

How is the work paid for?

A deposit of 40 percent is due once the drawing is approved, and the balance when the piece is fitted and you are happy with it. Payment goes directly to the workshop.

About this sample page

What this sample carpenter website shows

Oak and Pine Carpentry is a fictional workshop, and its sample website shows what a carpenter can publish with AI Web Maker. A carpenter fitting a shelf fills the opening view, set on a warm wood grain background with buttons to ask for a quote. Six kinds of work follow with starting prices, from fitted wardrobes to small repairs. Wood swatches, a materials table and a four step process explain the choices and the timeline in plain words. These parts let a homeowner understand the job well before the carpenter arrives to measure.

A carpenter who signs up writes a short account of the workshop, and from it the builder produces draft pages with an enquiry form built in. Quote requests come in through the form, and the carpenter agrees the price and payment with the client directly. Building and previewing the site are not billed. The live site then costs 9 yearly in hosting, or monthly payments of , with the domain paid for apart from that. For a trade that wins most work through trust, a clear site at that price can repay itself with a single commission.
