Most paintings begin as small panels made on the headland in whatever weather arrives, often with sand in the paint. Those studies come back to a converted boat shed, where the larger canvases are built up over weeks in thin layers and scraped back again.
Mara has painted the same few miles of coast for eleven years. Every colour is mixed from a short palette of earth pigments, ultramarine, a crimson and white, which is why paintings made years apart still sit happily on one wall.
Each print is proofed against the original painting before it is signed, and every size has an edition of its own.
| Size | Paper size | Edition | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A3 | 29.7 x 42 cm (11.7 x 16.5 in) | 75 | $95 |
| A2 | 42 x 59.4 cm (16.5 x 23.4 in) | 50 | $160 |
| A1 | 59.4 x 84.1 cm (23.4 x 33.1 in) | 25 | $260 |
Prints are signed in pencil below the image and numbered on the back, and an edition is never reprinted once it sells out.
Four commissions are taken each season, and most take eight to twelve weeks between the first message and the day the canvas is crated.
Describe the place, the room the painting will hang in and a rough size. Mara replies within a week.
Mara visits the place, or you talk it through on a video call, and paints two or three small oil studies.
You choose a study and a size, and the price is agreed. A deposit of a third holds a place in the season.
The canvas is painted over six to ten weeks, with photographs of its progress sent along the way.
The balance is paid, and the finished painting is crated and delivered to you.

The commission caught the bend in the river below the house better than any photograph could. Seeing the small studies first made the choice easy.
The A2 print of Morning Haar arrived flat, carefully packed and signed, and its colours sit very close to the painting seen at the open studio.
Squall Over the Point is the first original bought for this house, and it changes with the light all day. Crating and delivery were handled without any fuss.
Yes. Originals can be seen at the open studio on the first Saturday of each month, or at another time by arrangement.
In a made to measure crate, insured for the full price, to most countries. The delivery charge appears at checkout, and any import duty depends on the country and is settled when the painting arrives.
Every print is proofed against the original under daylight before the edition is signed. Small differences remain, because paper and oil paint hold light in different ways.
That is the most common request. Describe the place and why it matters, and Mara will say honestly whether it suits her way of painting.
You approve a study before the canvas is started, so the direction is settled early. If you decide not to go ahead after seeing the studies, only the deposit is kept.
Oil paint needs about six months to dry before its final varnish. Recent paintings leave with a light retouch varnish and can come back for the final coat at no charge.
Tell Mara what you are looking for, and she replies within a week. Commissions are priced after the studies, and payment is arranged directly with the studio.

About this sample page
Mara Quinn Studio was invented for this example, which shows how a painter can sell originals and prints and take commissions on AI Web Maker. A painter at the easel and a close view of oil paint open the page, with one button for the paintings and one for commissions. Originals and prints follow with medium, size, price and a choice of delivery, size or frame on each card. The largest canvas has no price and an Enquire button instead, while a table of print sizes and editions sits just below. Every part of the page leads a collector from looking at the work toward buying or commissioning it.
Painters who open a shop on AI Web Maker start by describing their subjects and listing some canvases, after which the builder sets out product cards, a bag and an enquiry form. A print buyer picks a size, a collector of originals picks crating or collection, and the delivery fee joins the total at checkout, where a code for an open studio can lower it. Any canvas left unpriced carries an Enquire button, which suits large originals and commissions alike. The hosting fee of $119 a year starts at launch, and the domain is bought on top of it. A fuller walk through every section waits on this example's sample page for any painter planning a site of their own.
