Medicines, pesticides and the rules where you farm

Each country sets its own law on animal medicines and crop chemicals, and some regions add rules of their own. This is how the store handles the main groups.

Product groupWhat we ask of youWhy
Feeds, minerals and supplementsThe right product for the animalSold over the counter, with rates printed on the bag
Prescription veterinary medicinesA valid prescription from your vetMany countries allow these only on a vet's instruction
VaccinesA prescription where the law asks for one, and a cool box for the trip homeMost vaccines stop working once they warm up
Pesticides and herbicidesUse only on the crops the label names, at the stated rateProducts are registered crop by crop, country by country
Restricted chemicalsA user licence or training certificate, where requiredSome products may only be sold to trained users

Read the label before every use. It sets the dose, the protective kit and the withdrawal period, which is how long milk, eggs or meat must stay out of the food chain after a treatment.

A store attendant explaining a feed label to a farmer at the counter

Advice on products, never a diagnosis

Staff at the counter can explain what a product is for, how to dose it by body weight, how to store it and what the withdrawal period means for your milk or eggs. What we cannot do is diagnose an animal or choose a treatment for one we have not seen, and we will not guess.

A sick, injured or off feed animal needs a vet. In an emergency, such as bloat, a difficult birth or a sudden collapse, call your vet straight away rather than driving to the store first.

  • Product questions answered at the counter or by phone
  • Sick animals referred to a vet, every time
  • Dose, storage and withdrawal explained from the label

Storing farm chemicals safely

Pesticides, herbicides, dips and medicines are only as safe as the shed they live in. These four habits matter on every farm, large or small.

Locked and labelled

A locked, ventilated store out of reach of children and animals, with every product in its original container and label.

Apart from food and feed

Shelved away from seed, feed, fertiliser, fuel and drinking water, above a floor or tray that can hold a spill.

Dressed for the job

Gloves, mask and eye protection as the label lists, with hands and clothes washed straight after spraying.

Empty containers

Rinsed three times into the sprayer, punctured and taken to a collection point where one exists; never reused for food or water.

If anyone swallows a farm chemical or is splashed by one, ring your local emergency number or a poisons helpline at once, with the label in your hand.

Collection and farm delivery

Loading help is on hand in the yard, so heavy bags go straight from the bay to the back of the pickup.

Questions farmers ask at the counter

Can you tell what is wrong with a sick animal?

No. We can explain products and labels, but only a vet can examine and diagnose an animal. If an animal is sick, injured or off its feed, call your vet, and in an emergency call straight away.

Why do some medicines need a prescription?

Many countries limit certain veterinary medicines, such as antibiotics and some vaccines, to use on a vet's instruction, to protect animal health and keep residues out of food. The rules vary by country, so bring the prescription your vet writes and we supply what it names.

Which pesticides can be used on a given crop?

Only those registered for that crop in your country, at the rate printed on the label. Registrations differ between countries and change over time, so the counter checks the current label with you before any crop protection product is sold.

Can a cattle mineral block go out for sheep?

No. Sheep are far more sensitive to copper than cattle, and blocks made for cattle can hold enough to poison them. Choose a block labelled for sheep, and ask at the counter if a label is unclear.

How should seed be kept until planting?

Cool, dry and off the floor, in its sealed bag, away from fertiliser and chemicals. Treated seed is dyed so it is never mistaken for food or feed, so keep it away from children and livestock too.

How far does farm delivery go?

To farms within about 40 km of the store, usually within two working days. Bulk loads go out on a set day each week, and farms further away can ask through the form.

Bulk orders, delivery and product questions

Price a load of feed or fertiliser, book a farm delivery, check whether a product suits your crop or herd, or order a prescription medicine for collection. We reply within one working day. This form is not for sick animals: for those, call your vet.

About this sample page

Seed, feed and safety on a single agrovet page

Green Pastures Agrovet is a made up farm supply store, imagined to show an agrovet selling online while treating medicines and chemicals with care. The shop lists seed, fertiliser, feed, a mineral block and a sprayer, each with a pack size, a price and an option where one helps. Veterinary medicines show an Enquire button, because some need a prescription. A rules table, a safe storage section and a clear statement that staff never diagnose animals follow the shop. Together they show farmers a store that knows its products and its responsibilities.

An agrovet owner on AI Web Maker outlines the store, the stock and the delivery round, and the builder turns that outline into products, a bag and an enquiry form. Options cover seed maturity, feed stages and fertiliser use, and the haulage fee is added to each order at checkout. Codes can reward early season orders, and anything unpriced shows an Enquire button. A live agrovet site pays $119 a year for hosting, with the domain on top. The wording on medicines and chemicals should always follow the law of the owner's own country.
